Dr. Lucy Zumwinkle Kornblith has been appointed the Elsbach-Richards Endowed Chair I in the Department of Surgery at University of California, San Francisco, a prestigious recognition honoring her exceptional contributions as a surgeon-scientist and leader in trauma care, surgical research, and gender equity.
Dr. Kornblith is an Associate Professor of Surgery and Laboratory Medicine at Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital and Trauma Center, where she specializes in trauma, acute care surgery, and surgical critical care. Her research on post-injury platelet biology and platelet genomics is supported by leading organizations, including the NIH, the Department of Defense, and the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation.
Beyond her clinical and research excellence, Dr. Kornblith is a tireless advocate for gender equity in surgery, serving as Director for Gender Equity in the Department of Surgery and co-chairing the Muriel Steele Society to foster inclusive support for women surgeons.
